Finally got time to install this kit yesterday on my StarLink Generation 2 Actuated. I have a solar system with a Renogy 60 Amp Controller. Renogy has a dedicated “Load” output for whatever (non-inverter) use you want. The Renogy App allows control of this “Load” output. The build quality of the XTAR-LINK is excellent. Metal and not plastic is used in the main device. I used a leftover piece of ¾” pine board about 18” X 16” to mount the kit and my Netgear 70 Router mounted on the same board. I then installed the board on the wall of my generator compartment on my 5th Wheel travel trailer. The power wires in the kit easily reached the Renogy Solar Contoller and all I did was snip the end rings and strip the wires to attach. I liked that a 12volt power supply is available on the XTAR-LINK to power my router. Even a power cable to run between the XTAR-LINK 12volt output and my router’s 12volt input is included. SWEET! I had to go to hardware store to get the proper size wood screws to mount the XTAR-LINK. I also wished that the plastic attachment that the StarLink cable “proprietary end” plugs into had a screw hole instead of double-sided sponge sticky tape to mount it to the board. When powered up the unit I didn’t expect to see a power LED indicator on the XTAR-LINK but it’s there. I liked that there is a manual on/off switch as well as a built-in fuse holder and 2 extra fuses. That’s a nice touch. I didn’t know how this would or could operate the StarLink without the StarLink Gen 2 Router. It works fine and I put away the Starlink Router for now. The StarLink Router is not as powerful as my Netgear 70 Router. The energy efficiency of the new install is much improved. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase, the installation and initial operation. Now I hope that the system lasts.
Merci beaucoup
We were RV'ing in Montana when we damaged our Starlink cable. I looked on eBay and found XTAR who would FedEx it out to us in a remote location. It arrived quickly and saved the trip. Great service and the cable is a good quality.
I installed and used for 5 months straight without any issues on my sailboat while cruising the Bahamas. Was able to save on power consumption with this set up. Unit would be warm to touch but not hot. WiFi provided with the kit provided good coverage from any where on the boat (48 footer).
